Encapsulation cleaning is a great process for residential customers who have lightly soiled carpets or who are just looking to have their carpets and rugs touched up and don’t want the hassle of the hot water extraction process.  Low-moisture carpet cleaning is a process that allows carpet fibers to dry to their natural state in two hours or less.  This is a true minimum-moisture method to cleaning the carpets and rugs in your home.

Why is low-moisture carpet cleaning important?  First and foremost, carpets dry faster.  Waiting several hours or even days can be disruptive.  Also, faster drying means there is less chance for mold, mildew, or fungi to develop while the carpet is drying.  Because of this, low-moisture carpet cleaning is also viewed as more environmentally friendly.  There is also less chance of shrinking or re-soiling of the carpet after it is cleaned.

Traditional hot water extraction cleaning can easily consume 50 gallons of pure clean water or more to clean 1,000 square feet of carpet.  By comparison, if that same carpet were cleaned using the Encapsulation method, the cleaning would only consume 3.5 gallons of water.  That’s less then 10% of the water consumption of a traditional hot water extraction.  With the Encapsulation method the water consumption is drastically reduced, there’s no waste water, and the cleaning agents are safe for the environment.

Additional impact to the environment occurs with traditional hot water extraction when a truck-mount system is used, including fossil fuel consumption and the emissions of carbon monoxide through engine exhaust.  By comparison, the Encapsulation method is performed using a machine with a electric motor running on a standard 15 amp electric circuit.

With that being said, consider having your carpets and rugs Encapsulated next time they need a cleaning.
